Property Transfer Tax (PTT)

Property Transfer Tax (PTT) is a tax paid to the Provincial Government of British Columbia by purchasers of any type of real estate. The tax is due at the time of registration of the property title at the Land Title Office.

First time home buyer

Up to $500,000 purchase price, PTT is fully exempted. The threshold increases up to $835,000, with partial exemption between $835,000 and $860,000.

Newly Built Home Exemption

In British Columbia the full Property Transfer Tax (PTT) exemption threshold from $750,000 to $1,100,000. Homes priced below $1.1 million qualify for a full exemption, while properties between $1.1 million and $1.15 million are eligible for a partial exemption.
